An afternoon in the park, read on for outfit details.
Spring is officially here! Almost nothing holds as much promise as the first day of Spring, it means new beginnings and the end of winter's cold grasp. It doesn't always mean warmth, not right away at least, but it does mean warmer temps are on the way. Our first day of spring here wasn't very nice at all, it rained all morning and then turned into snow in the afternoon. In fact we haven't had a clear shot of sky in over 48 hours. Depressing, right? On the sunnier side, so to speak, the temperatures today are not terribly cold. Lower 40's is spring in Michigan.
However, the day before the first day of spring (or should I say, last day of winter) was beautiful. It was sunny and fairly warm and gave me the perfect chance to wear these gorgeous new ankle boots.

They are by Alfani and I scored them at Macy's for nearly 65% off! I love a good deal and honestly the shoe clearance at Macy's is always great, but right now everything winter related in pretty much every store is deeply discounted as they make room for spring/summer styles.

The mod color blocking of black and white really jumped out at me. I wear a lot of grays, whites, and blacks so they add an interesting element to my outfits. I'm also a sucker for pointy toed shoes. I paired the boots with a charcoal gray sweater from Banana Republic and was able to finally break out a lighter weight jacket so I chose this vintage black and white bouclé jacket. I wore the jeans that I haven't been able to stop wearing ever since I got them, the cigarette jeans from Everlane. I want a pair of them in every color. They are the perfect slim straight jean and have a button fly, which is a detail I am obsessed with.

I chose to remain pretty tonal with this outfit but in the future I'll be pairing these boots with pops of color and pattern.
For my first time actually wearing these boots I was really impressed with the comfort. Sometimes pointy toed shoes can be uncomfortable until they stretch enough to stop pinching your toes but these were good from the start. And the kitten heel made them really walkable at the park we went to. The leather feels buttery soft and is of high quality. The foot bed was very well padded for utmost comfort so I think these will do well on workdays. I've left links to some of the products I've mentioned below.
Happy Spring! - Sam
